July 4th Probably Is NOT Tax Deductible

Before you ask us about if and how you can write off a July 4th party, here's your answer.

Now, like anything with taxes, my first response is always "It depends." And here's what I mean. Yes, you can have legit work parties or events for July 4th. For example, Dave Ramsey (doesn't matter if you like or hate him), works with his kids and what videos I've heard, he host a lot of BBQs and get togethers with his staff.

Now, are those work events??? I mean, not really. The intent is maybe building team camaraderie and all that, but really it's more just to relax and hangout and be people, not boss and employees. That to me sounds personal, almost intentionally personal and avoiding talking about work.

Now, we are not Dave Ramsey's tax advisor, it's just that this is a good example of having work people and maybe some work talk.... but this doesn't pass the smell test as a legit work function. So to me... naw, this ain't deductible, this is a personal get together.

Alright, after hearing all that, are you hosting a July 4th party? First have fun! Second, if you're thinking whether it's deductible or not, I'll ask you... does it pass the smell test?

It looks like a work function, it sounds like a work function.... but does it actually walk like a work function?

Happy July 4th! Enjoy your parties, BBQs, baseball, whatever you're doing. Enjoy :)

And for today's video... here's JT explaining, well not writing off a party, but a boat, so same fundamentals, just different situation. https://www.instagram.com/p/DB107JUpzPL/
