How We Deducted A Mini Cooper On Our Taxes Legitimately

Yup, you read the subject correctly. One time, many moons ago... two years ago to be exact ;)... JT and I legitimately deducted a mini cooper on our taxes. And since we're going to a conference this week as well, I got travel write offs on my mind, ss JT called it, one of our "fun" deductions.

Now before you start messaging your current accountant about why you haven't been writing off a mini cooper for the past 19 years, let's go over how we did it, plus a little walkthrough from JT on our instagram page as well.

So a couple years ago, JT and I go to a conference in Chicago, which from Des Moines is about a 6 hour drive. 5 if I drive or 37 if JT drives haha.

Anyways, instead of driving our personal cars, we decided to rent a car. When we got to Enterprise that morning, all the available cars had expired tags and so the only one available was the bright red mini cooper. You bet your ass we took it. And I had it in sport mode the whole time to feel cool haha.

So, no, we didn't do the 6,000 pounds thing. Nor did we purchase a car for our business. Instead, we took a boring business trip to Chicago and enjoyed the fun experience of driving a mini cooper for a few days. And the car, gas, and insurance were all tax deductible.

Oh, we went to Wrigley for the first time too while on the trip. So much fun. That was entertainment so not deductible, still a lot of fun though.

So if you have a business trip planned and you get the chance to rent a mini cooper, bmw, jag.... go for it and enjoy the tax deduction while you're at it.

Here's JT recounting the story with his own pizzaz on there, https://www.instagram.com/p/CwgISwsyMNJ/
